Book Buddies Past Events​

2025
City of Refuge's Trunk-or-Treat 
We had so much fun hosting the young ones and the young at heart! With the support of our friends, family, and neighbors, we were able to distribute 178 books and 47 bookmarks...along with plenty of candy, of course! Thank you to City of Refuge for welcoming Book Buddies and providing the opportunity for us to get books into the hands of kids! ​
Mayor's Summer Reading Club (MSRC) 
We were grateful for the opportunity to share these books with the kids at Toomer Elementary. We read the stories together and then dove into hands on activities related to the themes in the books. The best part...each kid went home with their own copies of each book, their art creations, fun bookmarks, and a canvas bag to take to check out more books from the library. Thank you to the Mayor's Summer Reading Club for providing the books, donors who purchased arts and crafts supplies, teachers and staff who extended Book Buddies a warm welcome and, of course, the kids who eagerly participated. With support we were able to distribute 50 copies of each book and fun literacy supplies!

    1. Mondays thru Thursdays - Tutoring - 3-4pm
    2. Thursdays - Elementary and Middle School Clubs - Ages 10-13 - 4pm
    ​3. Fridays - Preschool Classrooms - Ages 3-4 - 3pm
    If you are not a current Book Buddies volunteer, an interview and training is required to participate in this opportunity. A background check is required for volunteers 18 and over. 
    This opportunity qualifies for APS Graduation Volunteer Hours. We can also track your hours for the President's Volunteer Service Award.
